On April 29, 2025, a delegation from Krirk University, led by Dr. Suparata Kiartivich, Acting Director of the Center for Social Development and Academic Outreach, and Ms. Li Jiaqi, visited the Bang Rak Sexually Transmitted Infections Center for an academic exchange and study visit. The center operates under the Division of AIDS and STIs, Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand. The delegation was warmly welcomed by the Center Director, Rospong Kittiyowamar.
The visit began with a meeting in the conference room, where Director Rospong provided Krirk University faculty members and students with a comprehensive overview of current trends in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Thailand. He explained the modes of transmission and major risk factors in detail, and shared the latest developments in prevention and control measures, vaccine research, and treatment approaches. He also offered professional health advice to the faculty members and students in attendance.
During the subsequent interactive session, Chinese students actively shared China’s experiences and practices in health education and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They also engaged in lively discussions with Thai experts on relevant professional topics.
In the second phase of the visit, Director Rospong led the Krirk University delegation on a tour of the center’s outpatient department. He provided detailed explanations of the specialized diagnostic and treatment procedures for STIs, as well as professional techniques for collecting pathological specimens. Under the guidance of medical staff, some students also had the opportunity to experience relevant testing procedures firsthand, deepening their understanding of the practical operational processes.
During the question-and-answer session, Director Rospong particularly emphasized the importance of taking a comprehensive medical history, noting that it directly influences the design of treatment plans, the selection of diagnostic tests, and the effectiveness of targeted health education. He stressed that establishing a good doctor–patient relationship is therefore essential.
The delegation then proceeded to the center’s laboratory, where, under the guidance of professional staff, they observed specimens of various sexually transmitted infections under a microscope. This hands-on experience provided the students with valuable practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of laboratory procedures in STI diagnosis.
Before concluding the visit, Director Rospong delivered closing remarks, particularly reminding Chinese students to protect themselves and those around them while studying in Thailand. He emphasized the importance of knowledge about STI prevention and expressed his willingness to welcome students to contact the center whenever they have health concerns or require assistance.
This visit not only enhanced the knowledge and professional understanding of Krirk University faculty members and students regarding STI prevention and control, but also strengthened academic exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand in the field of public health.
