The Center for Academic Promotion and Service to Society, Krirk University, organized a special lecture on health at the Song Roi Hong Community, Bangkok
On February 23, 2025, the Center for Academic Promotion and Service to Society, Krirk University, organized a special health lecture at the Song Roi Hong Community, Bangkok, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jin Supornta Kietwich, Acting Director of the Center, along with Chinese doctors Dong Shijun and Dr. Ma Jingchao.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jin Supornta Kietwich, a licensed Chinese doctor in Thailand, gave a lecture on health care according to Chinese medicine to the community, which is part of the project “Good Health with Chinese Wisdom: Community Power for Self-Reliance” of Krirk University.
The atmosphere of the event was full of enthusiasm. Participants cooperated very well. Under the guidance of the three doctors, participants learned acupressure and Tai Chi together. After the lecture, many participants asked the doctors about their personal health problems, showing their great interest in Chinese medicine.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jin Supornta Kietwich also introduced the innovative research project under the research team of Dr. Zhao Ye, a post-doctoral researcher in Chinese medicine at the Institute of Chinese Medicine of China, who is currently a full-time lecturer at Krirk University. This research project is about disease screening through application and health promotion program with Tai Chi postures designed by Professor Wang Lulu, the successor of Tianlong Tai Chi School who has won many national championships. This research project has received much attention from the community. Many people have expressed their desire to join the research as soon as possible.
The survey found that Song Roi Hong Community has approximately 40% elderly population, which is at risk of chronic diseases and high medical expenses. Organizing this activity helps the community learn about health care according to Chinese medicine to enhance self-care ability and reduce dependence on medicine.
Krirk University is a leading educational institution in Thailand that has academic cooperation with Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other institutions in China. This activity demonstrates the university’s expertise in Chinese medicine and its role in providing academic services to society.
The leaders of Song Roi Hong Community expressed their gratitude to Krirk University for organizing this activity and welcomed the organization of such activities in the future. They also hope to cooperate in research. This cooperation between the university and the community is not only beneficial to the community, but also a valuable experience for preparing to open a Chinese medicine program at the university in the future.
