Promoting International Knowledge Exchange for Sustainable Development
From 12 to 19 October 2026, doctoral students from the fourth cohort of the Ph.D. Programme in Modern Organization Management (Ph.D. MOM) and the second cohort of the Ph.D. Programme in Trade and Politics for Sustainability in the Modern World (Ph.D. TPS) at Krirk University participated in an academic study visit and knowledge exchange programme in Italy, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Thanachart Prathumsawat, Chair of the Programme Executive Committee.
Conducted in collaboration with Bocconi University, the programme provided opportunities for international academic exchange, research discussion and exposure to business practices in an international context. The visit supported the exchange of knowledge and perspectives on organizational management, business strategy and the challenges facing organizations in a rapidly changing global environment.
Academic Exchange and Comparative Learning
An important part of the programme involved doctoral students presenting their academic work and dissertation topics, followed by academic feedback and discussion with Prof. Dr. Rosemary. These exchanges encouraged critical analysis, the development of research perspectives and consideration of how organizational and business management approaches respond to changing economic and social conditions.
The delegation also visited the University of Milan to observe its academic environment and exchange perspectives on higher education and international learning. These activities broadened participants’ understanding of different institutional contexts and approaches to academic development.
Learning from International Business Practices
The delegation visited Rinascente, a long-established luxury department store in Italy that is currently managed by Thailand’s Central Group. The visit offered insights into luxury retail management, brand value creation, consumer engagement, organizational strategy and business operations in an international market.
The case provided an opportunity to consider how organizations manage innovation, respond to changing consumer expectations and adapt their strategies to competitive global markets. These themes are relevant to discussions of sustainable economic development, responsible business practices and the long-term resilience of organizations.
Connecting International Collaboration with the Sustainable Development Goals
Through international academic exchange, research discussion and exposure to business practices, the programme created opportunities for doctoral students and faculty members to broaden their understanding of organizational and commercial approaches in different national contexts.
The knowledge and perspectives gained from these activities can inform further academic inquiry into sustainable management, responsible business development and organizational adaptation. They also provide a foundation for considering how international experiences and comparative learning may contribute to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Krirk University continues to promote international academic engagement that connects research, practical experience and cross-border knowledge exchange. By encouraging students to examine different approaches to organizational management and business development, the university seeks to strengthen international perspectives and support further learning relevant to sustainable development.
